Updates, updates, and more damn updates

We've been busy........
- just wrapped a busy Memorial Day weekend in the Kung Fu Bakery studio recording instrumental tracks for BodyVox's fabulous show "Horizontal Leanings". Had a blast working with Vivek Maddala and John Smith on their compositions, and a big thank you to my Third Angle colleagues who played: Hamilton Cheifetz, Brian Quincey, Jeff Work, Joe Berger, Todd Kuhns, and Molly Barth.

Vivek's music will be available on CD sometime this fall....

- we performed a world premiere of David Schiff's new work "Psalm 150", a beautiful, fun work commissioned to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Temple Beth Israel. Clarinetist Marty Erlich gave a spirited, virtuoso performance in the klezmer style...

- On June 6th, we perform another David Schiff premiere, this time for Reed College's "Reed-A-Palooza" alumni week. "Suite for Improvising Soloist and Chamber Orchestra" will feature Reed alum Larry Karush on piano, creating the solo part entirely himself.

- Planning continues for our fall City Dance project, honoring the work of Anna and Lawrence Halprin. This is the next/latest incarnation of our Frozen Music series, this time featuring original choreography by Linda K. Johnson, Cydney Wilkes, Tere Mathern, and Linda Austin. The musical scores will feature composers who were collaborators with the Halprins in the 60's, including Terry Riley, La Monte Young, Morton Subotnick, and Pauline Oliveros. This amazingly creative scene was the breeding ground for minimalism, electronic music, deep listening, post-modern dance, and Lawrence's revolutionary approach to landscape architecture and urban spaces. We'll attempt to bring it all together in one big project next fall; stay tuned for more details!
